County Commission BuildingSeveral presentations shared during Thursday’s Riley County Commission meeting were in reference to budget funds.  Budget and Finance Officer, Johnette Shepek provided some preliminary end-of-year figures for last year.
Shepek began by mentioning where the 2014 general fund cash balance started:  a little over 5.1 million dollars.  After adding all the revenues in and subtracting expenditures, the final un-audited ending cash balance was $5,321,344.
County Treasurer, Shilo Heger also had a few numbers to share with the commissioners, many of which she called “good news”.
Sales tax collections for February are up 9.66% from last month’s figures and are ahead of what was budgeted.  The collections totaled $165,744.88 and the sales tax revenue is now 4.5% over what has been budgeted for the year.
Other presentations included a report from County Health Department Director, Brenda Nickel and County Counselor, Clancy Holeman.  Nickel mentioned they are currently planning to re-locate the WIC services office from Fort Riley to Ogden.
