FBO is a Go: Manhattan City Commission Meeting

By KMAN Staff on April 7, 2015 Local News

After a short presentation by outgoing Manhattan Regional Airport Director Peter VanKuren the Manhattan city commission voted to move forward with an ordinance giving the go ahead to conduct an initial RFP for the new fixed base operations facility (FBO).  Financing will be provided through the general obligation fund, and the FBO provider will be sought to finalize an agreement where they would service the annual debt.

The commission expressed satisfaction with the passing of the ordinance. According to officials the FBO is an operational package that has been ongoing for over five years.  Mayor Wynn Butler asked several questions regarding possible use of the current armory, but concluded those types of issues could be gone over at a later date.

The rezoning of a PUD to allow the construction of new “Patio” style homes was approved by the commission.  This would put in new single family homes on approximately 9 acres on a development southwest of Miller Parkway.

Finally, the Landmark Water Tower property has been designated as park land for the city of Manhattan.
