    Nigel Johnson Transferring

    0
By John Kurtz on April 8, 2015 K-State Sports, Sports

    The drama-filled off-season of K-State basketball continues.

Nigel Johnson announced on twitter Wednesday morning that he’s leaving the program. He’s the fourth player to be kicked off the team or transfer this off-season.

After much deliberation, I say farewell. Thank you to my KSU coaches, my teammates, KSU community, to all my fans & supporters. #EMAW

    — Nigel Johnson (@TakingFlight_23) April 8, 2015

Johnson averaged 5 points per game this season, but carried the Wildcats to wins over Kansas and Iowa State late in the year by scoring a combined 37 points in the games.

He joins Jevon Thomas as one of two Wildcats to transfer. Marcus Foster and Tre Harris were dismissed from the team last month.

This transfer leaves K-State with three healthy, scholarship players right now. In addition to the four transfers, the Wildcats lost Thomas Gipson and Nino Williams to graduation. Brandon Bolden is recovering from a wrist injury, DJ Johnson from multiple foot surgeries and Malek Harris recently had shoulder surgery.

Bruce Weber has already signed three high school players for the 2015 class and has commitments from two others. That would leave K-State with two more open scholarships for next season.
