While numbers are unofficial but final, the Manhattan City Commission will apparently have two new commissioners following Tuesday night’s election, including Linda Morse and Mike Dodson. Morse emerged quickly to gain a seat on the board and was the front-runner throughout the evening. As far as Morse’s goals, she said she wants to maintain the expected growth in the right way. Morse credited part of her success to the “wonderfully active group of supporters” who helped her.

New-comer Mike Dodson was the second biggest vote-getter, and reflected on his time campaigning while looking ahead to what his new role will bring. Dodson was encouraged by the voter turnout and he hopes the number continues to climb in future elections.

Current Mayor Wynn Butler will be coming back for another term by coming in third place for the last open position on the commission. Butler says the main reason he ran for re election was to continue pursuing the Heartland Award, which recognizes efficient City Government.

USD 383’s incumbent school board president Leah Fliter was re-elected to another term during Tuesday’s election, and she tells KMAN while it’s nice to win, it’s sobering with the many challenges facing the Manhattan/Ogden school district. Fliter also looks forward to working with the same school board members, with the three other incumbents running for election also winning. And she says she doesn’t mind coming in second to David Colburn, who she describes as an “institution.”
Re-elected member, Curt Herrman said he was happy with the results, but hard work lies ahead. Herrman also shared gratitude with those who participated in the election process.. This was Herrman’s third time running for his seat and he said it seems to get a little easier everytime-as he’s more aware with the issues and the process.Incumbent Darell Edie filled the final open school board position, admitting it is always a little nerve wracking during an election. Edie also thanked all of the voters who got out and participated in the election process.
USD 378 winners were Kyle Bohnenblust for Position 1, incumbent Shane Allen for Position 2, Randy O’Boyle for Position 3, and Jared Larson for At Large.
The one contested race in the Blue Valley Randolph USD 384 was won by Stephen Corkill.Ogden Mayor Bob Pence was unopposed, but the winning Council members appear to be Ed Burch, Eladio Reid Jr., Kenneth Carroll, Jim Arp, and Roger Graham.
And in Ogden, while Mayor Bob Pence was unopposed, voters elected five Council members including Ed Burch, Eladio Reid Jr., Kenneth Carroll, Jim Arp, and Roger Graham–who had a one vote lead over the sixth place finisher Brian Still.
