Riley-County-CourthouseA Manhattan man charged in an October of 2014 incident, where he reportedly brandished a handgun and stole a pick-up truck, appeared in Riley County District Court Monday afternoon and entered a no contest plea.
Benjamin Abrams chose to waive his right to a preliminary hearing by pleading no contest to three counts:  one aggravated robbery charge and two misdemeanor theft charges.  All of these charges were said to have taken place at different times within October of last year.
The aggravated robbery charge states Abrams allegedly took a 1993 Ford truck while being masked and armed with a handgun.  The theft charges involve property of less than $1,000.  The first theft is said to involve tools taken out of a pickup truck.  The second charge alleges that Abrams broke into a golf cart barn at Colbert Hills golf course, where he was previously employed, and slashed tires and stole property.
Chief Judge Meryl Wilson found Abrams guilty on these charges and set sentencing for May 26th at 2:30 p.m.
