Special Meeting Focuses on Wamego Church Property

USD-320Wamego’s USD 320 Board of Education continues discussions on the District’s facilities.  At Monday’s Special meeting, scheduled to continue the discussions of the proposed plans for use of the Church property, was opened by President Richard Weixelman stating he was totally against using the Church building.  He added that his opinion has changed after Construction Inc’s., Dave Karnowski’s proposed plan to use the Church building for the District offices.  He pointed out the District does not own the Church building and the District doesn’t know if the Diocese would allow the building to be used as office space.    In addition, he pointed out if the Church structure was used as the District office, there was no space available for storage, and asked Karnowski to draw another plan to attach a storage facility.

After the other board members voiced their opinions, Board Member Mark Bettencourt suggested asking the Parish Council for an extension to use the current District Offices until a decision can be finalized.   He feels the long-term needs of the District need to be looked at.
