The Manhattan Fire Department issued a press release Tuesday morning, indicating details regarding their training session that began that day.The department will be conducting fire scenarios through May 31st. This training will be held at single family dwellings located on Kearney Street.
These exercises will give personnel the ability to train in an actual structure in the community to aid them in being proficient in a variety of disciplines associated with firefighting functions and responsibilities.
Firefighters will participate in scenarios that will hone their skills on fire attack, search, ventilation, MAYDAY, RIT operations and a variety of other disciplines . There will be no live fire training conducted in the structures, but theatrical smoke may be used giving the appearance of real smoke. Citizens can expect to see fire apparatus parked in the area.
