At about 3:30 pm Saturday, the Riley County Police Department received a 911 call from a passerby who reported a one vehicle rollover accident with entrapment in the 3200 block of Stagg Hill Road, Manhattan, KS. Responding officers found that the vehicle had three occupants at the time of the accident. One of the passengers was pronounced deceased at the scene and was identfied as 18-year old Cheyanne Higgins, of Junction City.
A second passenger was transported to Stormont Vail in Topeka, and his current condition is unknown at the time of this release. The driver of the vehicle is in stable condition at Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan. The preliminary investigation indicates all occupants were wearing seat belts. It is not believed that any other vehicles were involved in the accident, and the exact cause remains under investigation.
