An Ogden man, sentenced a year and a half ago after a no contest plea to second degree murder, was represented in Riley County District Court Friday for a status hearing. Michael Dechant, 21, who was 19 at the time of his sentencing in December of 2013, had filed a motion to withdraw his previous plea.
Another status hearing is set for August 10th in Riley County District Court.
Dechant’s sentence was for more than 26 years, in connection with the death of six-month-old Dominick Lubrano. Judge David Stutzman sentenced Dechant to 321 months.
Friday’s status hearing was held in Judge Stutzman’s chambers and Dechant was not in the courtroom for the hearing.
