Due to large amounts of rainfall, the water level in Tuttle Creek Lake is expected to rise substantially over the coming weekend, according to a press release issued by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Thursday afternoon. The increase in storm waters from the rivers flowing into Tuttle Creek Lake will likely result in a 15 to 20 foot rise in the lake by early next week. The dam is safe and can handle the increased flows.A large storm system across southeastern Nebraska on May 6, just above Fairbury and Beatrice, indicated Doppler radar estimates of rainfall from a large portion of the storm in the 4 to 8 inch range with isolated spots of 10 inches or more rainfall.
