    ###
A Geary County first degree murder/child abuse case is wrapping up, with defense witnesses taking the stand this week. State witnesses dominated the Christopher Lyman jury trial last week, but the defense began to call witnesses Monday.
Final witnesses and closing arguments are expected soon.
Lyman was taken into custody nearly two years ago after an eight-month-old child died at a Kansas City Hospital. The child was first brought to the Geary Community Hospital emergency room in September of 2013, then transported by helicopter to Children’s Mercy Hospital.
The trial began with jury selection May fourth.
