    USD 383 Board Renews Elementary Administrator Contract

    A large crowd showed up for Wednesday night’s special USD 383 School Board meeting, and at least one school official still has a job after the board overturned an earlier decision to not renew his contract. Director of elementary education Lucas Shivers will retain his position, and received a standing ovation when offered a contract for the next year.
    Last week the board voted not only on Shivers’ contract but 17 other teachers in the district. The special meeting Wednesday night was only for Shivers’ contract. Board President Leah Fliter indicates it’s part of budget reductions the board has been considering the past several weeks. USD 383 is having to cut two million dollars over a two year time period.
