A Manhattan woman will serve a consecutive sentence of 8 months and 36 months of probation for charges of aggravated battery and child endangerment.

Lesah Heiman appeared in court Monday afternoon alongside her attorney, Nicholas Heiman.

When asked by Judge Meryl Wilson if she had anything to say, Heiman said, “I would like to apologize to the family for any hurt they experienced through all this. I would like to say I’m sorry.”

Heiman was found guilty of an incident that occurred on April 14th, 2014, where a child’s head was injured by a ceiling fan while under Heiman’s supervision at a daycare.

It was found Heiman did not notify the parents or EMS right away.

After the child became pale and started vomiting, the parents were called.

Shannon Martin, the child’s mother spoke in court Monday saying, “this is something that could have been prevented. I take it as more than an unfortunate event.”

Judge Wilson sentenced Heiman to 6 months with 18 months probation for aggravated battery and 2 months with 18 months probation for child endangerment.
