The Kansas Board of Regents has approved 2 percent increases in the base salaries of the top administrators at five state universities, including Kansas State University.
The board approved the additional compensation Thursday.
University of Kansas Chancellor Bernadette Gray-Little will receive a base salary of about $510,000 for the fiscal year beginning July 1. The increase is $10,000.
Kansas State University President Kirk Schulz will see his salary rise about $9,300 to $476,000.
However Schulz announced Friday morning while he very much appreciates the 2 percent raise, since the university was not able to provide a campuswide salary pool this year for faculty and staff, he did not feel it is appropriate that he should receive a raise. As such, the University President says he will be providing a personal gift in the amount of his raise back to campus toward support of the University Support Staff Awards program.
