    RCPD identifies gunshot victim

    Riley County Police responded to a welfare check June 29th and found a deceased adult male near the intersection of Casement and Barnes Road in Manhattan. Police believe the man died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

    The Riley County Police Department identified the man as 68-year-old Walter Cash of Manhattan.


     

    At approximately 6:25 p.m. Monday the Riley County Police Department responded to a welfare check near the intersection of Casement and Barnes Road in Manhattan.

    Upon arrival officers found an adult male who was deceased from what RCPD believes to be an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Victim information is being withheld pending next of kin notification. There is no evidence to support the surrounding community is in danger as a result of this incident.

    As this investigation is ongoing further information has not been released at this time.
