A citywide cleanup effort following Thursday night’s storms will not be performed. The City of Manhattan forestry and public works crews have been working throughout the early morning hours and will continue to remove tree branches and debris from public roadways today. City crews will be removing limbs from citytrees in the public right-of-way areas and will continue to clear storm inlets. Typically, city trees are between the curb and the sidewalk or roughly 10 to 15 feet from the curb.
Residents are encouraged to take their tree branches and vegetation debris to the Riley County Transfer Station. The Transfer Station is open 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and is located at 1881 Henton Road, Manhattan. If you have questions, contact the Transfer Station at 785-565-6290. There is no charge for residents to haul tree branches or vegetation.
