RCPD Cruisers

Officers in the north eastern portion of Manhattan are investigating a rash of vehicle burglaries which occurred on June 2, 2015 overnight. Victims in the 3200 and 3300 blocks of Valleywood Drive in Manhattan reported that their unsecured vehicles were entered by an unknown subject and items had been removed without their permission. These items included a GPS unit, phone chargers, binoculars, Harley Davidson suspension shocks, a flashlight, and a hunting knife all with a total estimated loss of $1,580.00. Victims included Thomas Tavtigian, 50, Nicholas Cook, 35, Erich Vinson, 22, Dawn Brannon, 35, John Gralow, 67, Michelle Gralow, 36, Melody Marquez, 38, and John Hurley, 28 all of Manhattan. Officers also took a separate report of an attached garage’s screen door being damaged in the 3200 block of Valleydale Drive. This door was attached to a home occupied by Nicole Retzlaff, 24 and Christopher Retzlaff, 34. RCPD found that an unknown suspect had entered this garage through a window, however, no items were removed. Police are investigating, however, at the time of this report no arrests had been made. RCPD asks that anyone with information on these crimes contact the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers at 785-539-7777. Community members working with law enforcement in this capacity could qualify for a cash reward of up to $1,000.00 while remaining completely anonymous.

Demarco Branam, 22, of Manhattan was arrested while in the 100 block of Courthouse Plaza on a warrant for failure to appear with an original offense of vehicle burglary, attempted vehicle burglary, and theft. He was given a bond of $10,000.00 and at the time of this report he was confined at the Riley County Jail.

Police arrested Kevin Brown, 32, of Topeka, Kansas while at the Riley County Police Department on June 3, 2015 at approximately 5:00 PM. Brown was arrested on a warrant from Geary County, Kansas for the offenses of motion to revoke probation violations and failure to appear. He was given a bond of $12,500.00 and at the time of this report he was confined at the Riley County Jail.

Donnie Hill, 42, of Manhattan was arrested on June 3, 2015 at approximately 6:05 PM while in the 700 block of Allen Road. He was arrested on the offenses of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia (felony), and driving while revoked. Hill was given a bond of $7,500.00 and at the time of this report he was confined at the Riley County Jail. This arrest took place after a search warrant was executed at Hill’s home.

Mariel Edwards, 29, of Manhattan was arrested while in the 600 block of Pierre Street for the offenses of DUI, possession of a controlled substance, and criminal chemical test refusal. She was issued a bond of $5,000.00 and at the time of this report was no longer confined at the Riley County Jail. This arrest occurred on June 4, 2015 at approximately 2:40 AM.
