Exclusive interview with Darci Pottroff, Manhattan resident.
While Governor Sam Brownback is speaking out against the Supreme Court’s ruling, a newlywed Manhattan couple said today will be a day that sticks in their memories for a long time. Darci Pottroff and Joleen Spain had their marriage license denied in Riley County in October of last year, even after a federal lawsuit ruled that all Kansas counties must extend marriage licenses to all couples.
Today, the Supreme Court of the United States ruled 5-4 gay couples have a right to marry anywhere in the nation. Brownback says the state will review the ruling further, but for now Pottroff is optimistic.
