Sentence upheld in sexual exploitation of a child case

A Riley County judge upholds a lifetime post-release supervision sentence for a man charged with sexual exploitation of a child.
Jeremy Carroll appeared in court Monday afternoon for re-sentencing.
Carroll’s attorney says the sentence of lifetime post-release is unconstitutional and cruel in nature because his client has no criminal history.
Judge Meryl Wilson asked Carroll if he would like to withdraw his plea, in which he chose not to.
Judge Wilson denied the request to modify the sentence and reaffirmed the original sentence of 31 months and lifetime post-release supervision for sexual exploitation of a child.
Carroll will have 14 days to appeal the decision.
