It was a rough night for emergency crews, with winds up to 73 mph in the Manhattan area, leading the destruction of power lines and trees. KMAN held an interview with Riley County Emergency Management Director Pat Collins, who says his department is keeping a close eye on flooding and other post-storm safety issues.

Also spoken to this morning was Erin LaRow with Westar Energy reporting the area’s power outages. Authorities tallied the number effected by power outages at close to 4,000 Riley County residents.
