A man charged in the death of a pregnant woman’s unborn baby appeared at the Riley County District Courthouse Monday morning.
33-year-old Ryan Routson is facing charges of  involuntary manslaughter by driving under the influence,  aggravated battery by DUI, possession of methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia.
The accident happened on May 6th around 7:30 a.m at the intersection of Tuttle Creek Boulevard.
Police say Routson failed to observe a stop sign and his vehicle slammed into the vehicle of a woman who was 22 weeks pregnant at the time.
The Assistant County Attorney James Garrison requested the victim’s name be withheld.
She was taken to the hospital and suffered minor injuries but gave birth to a stillborn child later that night.
A pretrial date is set for September 2nd.
