
The rain wasn’t the only thing pounding the pavement Thursday morning.
Officers and employees of the Riley County Police Department joined forces to complete the Law Enforcement Torch Run. One of several events the department participates in, as a way to give back to the community they proudly serve.
The Torch Run benefits The Special Olympics of Kansas. Representative Luke Schulte said, that funds raised go to support the organizations 22 year-round sports programs across the state of Kansas.
RCPD Public Information Officer Matthew Droge said, that despite stormy weather conditions the event wouldn’t be called off unless runner safety became a concern.
