Wamego’s USD 320 Board of Education recognized student’s achievements in sports, organizations and forensics.  Golf Coach Michael Petermann introduced the Wamego High School State Golf participants that qualified for state and placed 3rd.  The team consisted of Ryan Elder, 9th place, Parker Waters, 10th Place; Cooper Spears, Spencer Stewart, AJ Sramek, and Noah Hildreth. Petermann said this was one of the best seasons in golf, and the team is an excellent representation of Wamego on the golf course.

Instructor Jennifer Topliff expressed her pride in the National Forensics participants, Anne Kenworthy, Trace Campbell, Chloe Ablin, Matiel Lindley, Ethan Malin, Elise Artzer, Patrick Hobbs, Josie Fails and Emily McMonagle.  Topliff said this was the first time in at least 15 years that anyone has advanced beyond Octofinals.   They finished 17th in the nation.  She thanked the board for the support of the group and the organization and added that the life experiences  the students gained, will serve them well.

A long list of both boys and girls, the State Track Qualifiers were introduced by Coach Jim Page, who thanked the board for recognizing all the things the students are doing.  Instructor Andy Morton introduced the FFA students who competed at the Kansas FFA Convention in Manhattan recently.  He said plaques were presented to the top 4 ranking teams.  Wamego was awarded 2nd place overall.

Business instructor Travis Graber went over the achievements of Dylan Marple, the Wamego High School senior who was recently named the 2015 MOS Kansas State Champion in Word 2010 and Excel 2010.  He said Marple has been invited to compete in Centiport’s 2015 MOS U. S. National Championship in Orlando, FL, June 18-20, was awarded a $250 cash prize, and was certified as a Microsoft Office Specialist.
