Outstanding board members earned recognition recently. Wamego’s USD 320  Superintendent Denise O’Dea, presented plaques to outgoing board members for their years of service, during Monday night’s board of education meeting.

Recipients included Mark Bettencourt who served four years, Richie Chrest who served 13 years and Richard Weixelman who served 32 years.  Weixelman was honored for serving 20 of the 32 years in a leadership position, with 10 years as President and 10 years as Vice President.   Weixelman received a standing ovation from everyone in attendance.

Michele Johnson received a plaque for completing the unexpired term of Ken Hitch and for running for election for her new position.  Rob Adams received a plaque for completing his 2nd year on the board, and his 1st year as Vice President.
