Manhattan Fire Department water rescue team deploying to the Kansas river with Kansas Wildlife, Parks & Tourism and Fort Riley Fire Department for a boater in distress Monday afternoon.
Three adults and three children were safely rescued by firefighters after their canoe became tangled in nearby trees.
Also Monday, K-18 between Manhattan and K-99 junction (Mile Markers 197-198 in Riley County) was REDUCED TO ONE OPEN LANE for both directions due to high flood waters over part of the roadway, with KDOT maintenance crews flagging traffic through the area beginning about six p.m. The highway was re-opened at about 10:30 p.m.
