WESTMORELAND — Pottowatomie County Register of Deeds Betty Abitz reported to county commissioners Monday morning that deeds are up for June.
Pottowatomie County had 123 deeds in June and 111 of those were for new sales. There were also 106 mortgages, with eight of those valued at $300,000 and above. Nine were non-taxed.
Commission chairman Pat Weixelman said the numbers showed the region’s growth, but did say keeping up with that growth is a challenge.
“It’s steady growing and along with that, it brings more problems and situations where we have to allow for that growth,” he said. “It’s a blessing in disguise.”
Weixelman also said the Belvue bridge will be inspected tomorrow and that he is interested in that report.
“It’s a yearly inspection on these,” he said. “It will be interesting to see what they come up with there.”
