    Cameron Marshall-7-15
A local youth was selected to serve on Youth Volunteer Corps’ (YVC) International Youth Advisory Board and to represent the local YVC on an international level. Cameron Marshall, an 8th grade student at Anthony Middle School, was selected as one of 26 youth to serve on the International Youth Advisory Board.

“The International Youth Advisory Board is such a valuable part of YVC, so we look forward to seeing all that they will accomplish this year,” said David Battey, president and founder of YVC. “We love seeing all that can be achieved when outstanding youth from throughout the U.S. and Canada come together.”

Cameron will serve a one-year term as an International Youth Advisory Board member providing input on all aspects of YVC programming on an international level while also bringing new ideas back to YVC in Manhattan. Board meetings will take place remotely once a month with the exception of one in-person meeting at the YVC Summit in October. Cameron will be traveling to Ann Arbor, Mich., to represent YVC of Manhattan at the Summit.

“We are excited to have Cameron represent the Manhattan community on an international level,” said Lori Bishop, Executive Director of the Flint Hills Volunteer Center. “The Youth Volunteer Corps of Manhattan is one of our signature programs and fairly new to the community. Cameron will do a great job and we’re looking forward to this adventure with him.”

More than 5,000 youth volunteer with YVC each year throughout communities in the U.S. and Canada, and these 26 board members will be representing each of these volunteers on the board.

Youth Volunteer Corps of Manhattan’s focuses on promoting a lifetime commitment to service among youth by offering volunteer projects for youth ages 11 to 18 on Saturdays, after school, in school and during the summer. YVC of Manhattan, hosted by the Flint Hills Volunteer Center, is one of nearly 40 affiliates of Youth Volunteer Corps, headquartered in Kansas City.
