A Manhattan man who was shot in the face during an attempted robbery is sentenced to 26 consecutive months and 48 months of probation.
Christopher Hudgins appeared in Riley County District Court Monday afternoon alongside his attorney Thomas Addair for a sentencing.
Hudgins was found guilty of attempted aggravated robbery and conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery.
Addair said his client has no criminal history and has not used any drugs since the November incident in which he attempted to rob a home in the 23-hundred block of Cheryl Terrace.
Addair asked for no probation time and said Hudgins is just “a young man who made a huge mistake.”
Hudgins was 18-years-old at the time of the incident. Two other minors were also arrested and charged.
Assistant county attorney Wes Garrison said probation is fair because Hudgins intended to rob the home and even though he was shot in the face by the victims of the attempted robbery, they are still victims.
Judge Meryl Wilson sentenced Hudgins to 13 months and 24 months of probation for the charge of attempted aggravated robbery and 13 months and 24 months of probation for the charge of conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery.
