    Pottawatomie County commissioners meeting

Pottawatomie County Commissioner Pat Weixelman updates KMAN on county news during Monday’s commissioners meeting.

According to County Attorney Sherri Schuck, crime rates this year are lower than last year by 19 cases. The cases involved traffic and criminal citations. The citations were also down at Country Stampede this year.

Fire Supervisor Jared Barnes said there were 98 fire reports for the previous month. The incident reports included medical, car wrecks and the actual fire reports themselves. Weixelman tells KMAN the numbers do seem high for one month but he hasn’t heard of anything unusual to cause that. Barnes also talked about the status of getting a fire station for the city of Wheaton. Weixelman said the commissioners are considering a lease-purchase option.
