    The Riley County Police Department continues to investigate a matter involving the alleged sexual exploitation of a child that occurred this month and aggravated indecent liberties with a child that happened in 2012. This investigation began after police received reports of a 31-year-old male contacting a 15-year-old female and possibly requesting that she provide sexually explicit images to him. Police found throughout the investigation that this male may have also inappropriately touched the female victim when she was 12. Police continue to investigate the matter and due to the nature of these crimes no further information has been released.

    Police took a report documenting a tip for possible child pornography being sent through the internet on Friday morning at approximately 3:15 a.m. Officers were made aware of this potential crime by a community member, however, the possible suspect resides in Ohio.     Officers filed a report for theft in the 2000 block of Shirley Lane in Manhattan Thursday at approximately 5 p.m. for an incident that likely occurred during the day. Police found that Brandon Hendrix, 24, of Manhattan, became the victim of theft when three firearms were removed from his home without his permission. These firearms included a rifle, a shotgun, and a handgun with a total value of approximately $2,350. Currently no arrests have been made and the firearms have not been recovered at the time of this report. If you have information about this crime contact the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers and you could qualify for a cash reward of up to $1,000.

    A theft report was filed in the 3000 block of Tuttle Creek Blvd. on Thursday at approximately 8 a.m. after a fish tank pump, football jersey, and several jackets were taken from 34-year-old Manhattan man Casper Yeargin. The loss is valued at $1,260 after a suspect likely known to Yeargin removed the property without his permission. No arrests have been made or citations issued at the time of this report as officers continue to investigate.

    Phillip Schaffer, 45, of Topeka, was arrested Thursday at approximately 9 p.m. while at the Riley County Police Department. Schaffer was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear and given a bond of $6,000. At the time of this report he was confined at the Riley County Jail. The original offense listed on this warrant was theft.
