Wagner to Play in Shrine Bowl Saturday

    0
By John Kurtz on July 23, 2015 High School Sports, Manhattan High School, Sports

Manhattan High offensive lineman Colton Wagner will play for the West team in the Kansas Shrine Bowl on Saturday in Hays. Wagner was a starter at right tackle for the Indians in 2014 and was a first-team all-league selection.

The Indians have a rich tradition of sending players to the Shrine Bowl. Wagner was the 59th Manhattan High player all-time to be selected to play in the game. The only Kansas high school with more is Wichita Southeast. Manhattan’s Brandon Nowlin was picked to play in the 2014 Shrine Bowl.

Other Centennial League players in the game include Tony Barksdale (Shawnee Heights), Alec Beatty (Topeka High), Wyatt Hendrix (Seaman), Derrick McGreevy (Hayden), Jake Regnier (Topeka High) and Tyrik Nas-Carmickle (Junction City). Full rosters can be found here.

The West has won nine of the last ten games, including a 21-6 win last year. The game kicks off at 7:00 and can be heard online at www.1350kman.com.
