“When our country calls, and it will call again,” Major General Wayne W. Grigsby, Jr. announced, “the oldest, and in my opinion the best division in the United States Army will be prepared to move to the sound of the guns.”

Maj. Gen. Grigsby declared his responsibilities after formally replacing Maj. Gen. Paul E. Funk II as commander of the Big Red One on Thursday. Outgoing commander, Maj. Gen. Funk has spent the last few years leading the nation’s oldest division and praised its’ soldiers and veterans. He will now continue his Army career elsewhere, and Maj. Gen. Grigsby takes command after his most recent assignment as the Special Assistant to the Deputy Chief of Staff in Washington, D.C.
