The Manhattan Town Center and Carmike Cinemas, Inc. are bringing a new, state-of-the-art movie theater to downtown Manhattan.

The multi-million dollar project is being built on the same footprint as the former Sears location with demolition of the old Sears building already underway.  The new, 13-screen all-stadium seating theater, which will boast a 575 seat IMAX theater and five auditoriums that offer food and beverage options, is anticipated for a 2016 grand opening.

“This is an exciting addition to the continuing growth of Manhattan and speaks to Urban’s commitment to the community and the local economy.  With every new tenant we bring in, our goal is to capture the style and spirit of downtown Manhattan and the Manhattan Town Center experience,” said Paul Motta, Chief Operating Officer of Urban Retail Properties, LLC, owner/operator of the Manhattan Town Center. “By being the only location to offer both an IMAX Theater and Dine-in Theaters within 100 miles, Carmike and Urban Retail are bringing our goal of taking the movie experience in Manhattan to the next level.”

This new development will offer Carmike’s innovative full-service dining experience along with the immersive presentation of IMAX equipped with a large, wall-to-wall screen, digital projection and surround sound featuring the biggest Hollywood blockbusters like never presented before. Among other amenities, the new theatre will also offer an exceptionally designed lobby and the convenience of customized service.

Carmike Cinemas Marketing Project Manager stated, “Carmike continues to evolve the guest experience through bold innovation, personalized service, and extraordinary technology. As we expand our footprint, it thrills us to collaborate with our partners atUrban Retail Properties and the Manhattan Town Center in bringing the very best Carmike has to offer in entertainment to the great community of Manhattan, Kansas. Through cutting-edge presentation, we are certain guests will be thrilled with the upcoming development.”
