Convicted sex offender, John Thomas, 48, was sentenced for three counts of sexual exploitation of a child Monday in Riley County District Court.
Before his sentencing, Thomas gave an emotional apology in court to his family and the family of the victim. The victim’s mother stood and presented a statement in return, mentioning Thomas “deserved life” for his numerous crimes against her child. Thomas was sentenced to 68 months in prison for Count 1, 32 months for Count 2 and 32 months for Count 3 of his convicted offenses with counts one and two to be served consecutively and the third concurrent. That leaves a controlling sentence of 100 months. Thomas must also register as a sex offender and receive mental treatment while on post-release supervision for 36 months following his release.

(June 23, 2015) John Thomas, 48, of Leonardville plead no contest Monday to three charges of sexual exploitation of a child. Thomas appeared at the Riley County District Courthouse alongside his attorney Larry McRell. As KMAN had previously reported, an affidavit was released in late March and referenced 100 counts of sexual exploitation of a child. Riley County police say Thomas allegedly had numerous images of child pornography. A warrant was issued for his arrest in February. He was arrested in northern Arizona one month later. Federal authorities say Thomas had dramatically changed his appearance but still was identified and arrested without incident.
