A St. George man has been sentenced to three and a half years on burglary and theft related convictions.
Jerry Daniels, 55, was sentenced Thursday in Pottawatomie County District Court to 24 months for residential burglary, 12 months on non-residential burglary, and six months on felony theft to run consecutively. Daniels is also to spend 60 days in the county jail, but allowed work release Monday through Friday… and was ordered to pay costs and restitution with a minimum of 200 dollars a month towards restitution. Daniels was arrested in February following a search warrant by the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s office.
Also sentenced Thursday was Paula Daniels, 64. She faces a six month underlying Department of Corrections sentence, but was granted probation for 12 months. She is to pay a minimum of 150 dollars a month towards restitution.
The two were arrested after three stolen vehicles were recovered from their property, along with guns, an enclosed trailer and vehicle parts, with an estimated value of more than $25,000.
A Wamego man has been sentenced to 12 months with the Department of Corrections on felony criminal destruction of property and DUI convictions. Samuel Rutschmann was sentenced Thursday in Pottawatomie County Court, with a consecutive 12 month county jail sentence. However he was granted probation for 12 months. He also was assessed costs and restitution and ordered to follow recommendations in a drug/alcohol evaluation.
Rutschmann had been sentenced earlier this year to seven months in an earlier  criminal threat and domestic battery case.
Also Thursday in Pottawatomie County Court, an arraignment for a Leavenworth man facing charges in a high speed pursuit last month was continued. Travis Doughty faces charges of aggravated assault, fleeing to elude, reckless driving, criminal discharge of a firearm, and criminal damage to property–after a couple hour chase and search which involved several law enforcement agencies in mid July. Doughty’s arraignment was continued to September 17th.
