    RCPD Report – 8/11/2015

    Under the Newborn Infant Protection Act, a parent or legal guardian can anonymously surrender an infant 60 days old or younger to staff members at certain governmental or healthcare facilities as long as the infant has not been harmed.

    RCPDEarly Tuesday morning, officers with the Riley County Police Department responded to a single vehicle collision in the 1900 block of Pillsbury Dr.

    34-year-old Nicolas Cuevas-Castanan of Council Grove, was driving a 2005 Hyundai Sonada northbound on Pillsbury Dr. with passenger Jose Vazquez, 20, when it left the roadway and rolled multiple times before coming to rest. Cuevas-Castanan was momentarily entrapped in the vehicle while Vazquez was able to find help.

    Cuevas-Castanan suffered significant injuries and was transported to Via Christi Hospital and then life-flighted to a medical care facility outside of Riley County. Vazquez also sustained injuries and was transported to Via Christi Hospital and admitted.

    36-year-old David Butler. of St. George was arrested at the Riley County Police Department Monday, on a warrant for extradition with “no bond.” The warrant originated from the State of Wisconsin Department of Corrections and Butler was confined to the Riley County Jail.

    Officers with the Riley County Police Department filed a report on Monday for sexual battery which is said to of occurred in the city limits of Manhattan in the early morning hours on August 7th. The victim in this investigation is listed as a 19-year-old female and the suspect who is known to her was listed as a 22-year-old male. Police are currently investigating this incident and no further information was available at the time of this report due to the nature of the crime.
