A record-breaking 1,691 community members, including 739 children that received free admission, attended Sunset Zoo’s Water Safari & Kids free Day presented by Murdock Manhattan on Saturday, August 1. This annual end-of-the-summer bash allowed guests to cool off under the spray of a fire truck from Manhattan Fire Department, as well as enjoying a wee ones water area, splash zones at several animal exhibits, grasslands-themed kids crafts and activities, and of course, the Zoo!

Sunset Zoo’s animal collection was a highlight of the afternoon. The Zoo’s Animal Care staff created water-themed enrichment for many of the Zoo’s residents, allowing guests to see firsthand how Zoo animals stay active and healthy. In addition, the Zoo’s volunteer corps roamed the park providing guests encounters with the Zoo’s animal ambassadors.

Promotional sponsorship for Water Safari 2015 was presented by Murdock Manhattan and sponsored by Kansas Connections Academy and Manhattan Broadcasting’s 1350 KMAN, B104.7, KROCK 101.5 and Z96.3.
