Wolf confronts Sen. Moran at listening tour

Dr. Milton Wolf (right) confronts U.S. Senator Jerry Moran during Moran’s “listening tour” in Wamego on Monday morning. Wolf wanted a statement from Moran on the allegations regarding X-rays posted on Facebook.

WAMEGO — Dr. Milton Wolf, a Leawood radiologist who challenged U.S. Sen. Pat Roberts last year, confronted U.S. Sen. Jerry Moran during one of Moran’s “listening stops” this morning.

At issue were reports of X-Rays posted on social media and the subsequent divulgence of an investigation of Wolf by the Kansas Board of Healing Arts prior to the 2014 primary election.

Wolf told the group in Wamego he had been exonerated. “They couldn’t provide a complaint against me or a single patient with a complaint against me.”

He also thanked Wamego for standing by him after the allegations were made. “A year-and-a-half ago, when false accusations were brought against me, the first place I went was Wamego,” he said. “You embraced me. You guys stood by me in the eye of the storm.”

Wolf then challenged Sen. Moran on his knowledge of those events, and presented him with a report he had complied.

“In that report, it’s pretty incontrovertible there was wrongdoing,” Wolf said. “The law was broken. Government officials lied about evidence in this case.” He added that the players were Jeff Roe, “one of the worst miscreants in American politics” and Anne Hodgdon, a member of the Kansas Board of Healing Arts.

“We know Anne a contributor of yours, she publicly stated she’s all in for you,” Wolf said. “We know you hired Jeff Roe. We know all of that because I compiled all this evidence.

“I urge you to be straight with us,” he continued. “Were you aware, did you have any advance knowledge of this false Facebook X-ray line of attack before it was published in the Topeka Capitol-Journal on Feb. 22, 2014?”

Sen. Moran replied it was a very easy question to answer straightforwardly. “The answer is no,” he said. “I didn’t know anything about this until I read it in the press. I never had conversations about this with anyone at the Board of Healing Arts. I didn’t even know Anne was on the Board of Healing Arts until I read it in the paper.

“I’m pleased that you’re exonerated,” he continued. “We need every doctor in Kansas we can have. We need all the medical services a doctor of medicine can provide. And I never, ever used my position to do harm to anybody. I’m pleased you’re exonerated and I know nothing about how the charges and allegations were generated in regards to your medical license.”

Sen. Moran also stated that he had never hired Jeff Roe. “To my knowledge we never hired Jeff Roe. I know who he is, campaign manager for Ted Cruz. But he’s not on my payroll.”

Wolf pressed the issue once again, but the crowd made it known he had made his point. He left the meeting stating, he had to be at the hospital and “believe it or not, I’m a doctor, not a politician.”

Moran also addressed various other topics at the meeting including the economy, veterans health care, agriculture and the Iran nuclear weapon agreement.
