A Leavenworth man facing charges in a high speed pursuit plead guilty Friday afternoon in Pottawatomie County.

Travis Doughty, 19, surrendered to charges that included fleeing to elude and two counts of assault. In July Doughty was involved in an hour-long chase and search which called for several law enforcement agencies after an alleged shooting incident involving another car in the Carnahan Creek area.

In other Pott County court news, Cameron Renfro of Silver Lake will be requested for a motions hearing on Jan. 4.

Renfro, 24, will face charges relating to a head-on collision near Wamego last Fall that left two men injured.

As KMAN reported last October, Renfro and Jeffrey Fisher of Wamego were life-flighted following an accident on Highway 24 east of Wamego. Renfro and Fisher were the drivers in the head-on collision and were trapped and had to be extracted from the pickup and car that collided. Renfro was found to be under the influence. A portion of Highway 24 was closed for several hours following that early morning accident Oct 5.

Fisher, 48, has reportedly been in a wheelchair since the accident and Renfro lost an arm as a result of the accident.

Renfro will have a pretrial hearing on March 17 and a jury trial scheduled to begin on March 31 and end on April 1.

Finally, James Shirely, 21, of Wichita received a 12-month underlying sentence and six months for felony theft in connection with a stolen vehicle case reported near St. George earlier in September, which resulted in a law enforcement chase.

Pottawatomie County attorney Sherri Schuck said the court ran the counts concurrent and remanded Shirley to do 60 days as a condition of probation. He will then be placed on probation for 12 months with costs.

Shirley’s co-defendant, Dalton Flax, 19, received an eight-month underlying sentence on vehicle burglary and six months on felony theft. Schuck said the court also ran the counts concurrent and remanded him to serve 60 days in the county jail as condition of probation. Probation is 12 months with costs.
