MATC receives grant to expand Dental Hygiene

By KMAN Staff on October 26, 2015 Local News, Manhattan, Riley County

Manhattan, Kan. – The Manhattan Area Technical College (MATC) Foundation is pleased to announce it has received a $150,000 grant from Delta Dental of Kansas.  These funds will be used to implement an expansion of the dental clinic that will benefit the community in multiple ways.  MATC plans to expand oral health services by doubling the student’s ability to treat patients – moving from seven operatories up to a goal of fourteen.  A ~1,400 square foot structure will be added to the existing dental hygiene clinic as part of Phase 1.

Phase 2 involves outfitting the new space with operatory equipment/furniture and reconfiguring the clinic’s existing space to allow for better workflow, strengthen infection control, more closely replicate industry operatories for our students and ensure an enhanced level of patient privacy.

MATC’s dental hygiene program is designed to prepare students for the National Board Dental Hygiene Examination and other necessary licensure regulations to enter and be successful in the profession. The program is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation. Students earn an Associate of Applied Science degree of Dental Hygiene.

MATC a state-supported, locally controlled, technical college accredited by The Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
