    RCPD Report 10/2/2015

    Officers with the Riley County Police Department filed a report for theft of a motor vehicle in the 1000 block of Humboldt Street in Manhattan on October 1, 2015 at approximately 7:20 AM. Police found that a 1997 red Honda Civic valued at approximately $2,000.00 was removed from an apartment complex parking lot without the owner’s permission. The victim in this investigation is listed as being Joseph Green, 29, of Manhattan. The vehicle was unsecured at the time of this crime and police were told it had Missouri license plates.     Leann Blancho, 30, of Manhattan was arrested by police in the 500 block of Moro Street in Manhattan on October 1, 2015 at approximately 12:00 PM. She was arrested for the offenses of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia which was listed on a warrant from Clay County, Kansas. Her bond was set at $5,000.00 and at the time of this report she was confined at the Riley County Jail.

    On early Thursday afternoon officers with the US Marshal arrested Rodney Lynn Helzer, 66, of Manhattan. Helzer was arrested in the 1600 block of Pierre Street at approximately 12:20 p.m. Helzer was arrested on a warrant for attempted theft of property estimated between $1,000 and $25,000. Helzer’s bond was set at $5,000.00.
