Local school districts stacked up well in the latest school district rankings by the website Niche.com for 2015.
The website, which analyzes school districts and colleges across the country, listed Manhattan-Ogden USD 383 as the fourth-best in the state, while the Rock Creek school district was picked 10th and Wamego came in at No. 15.
Randolph-Blue Valley was 25th.
One local school district wasn’t so favored, though.
Riley County USD 378 — the smallest of the bunch with just two schools — was ranked 244th in the state.
The website’s rankings methodology factored the strength of academics, quality of teachers, school resources, the quality of student life, as well as student and parent reviews, in an attempt to measure the overall excellence of the district.
While Manhattan-Ogden received “A” grades across the board — the lowest being a “B+” in Sports & Fitness — Riley County suffered “C” grades in Administration & Policies, Health & Safety, Resources & Facilities and Student Culture & Diversity.
Manhattan-Ogden also spends an average of $17,132 per student, according to the website’s findings, compared to Riley County, which spends $10,327 per student — which is below the national average of $11,927.
