Senator Tom Hawk says he’s running for re-election.
According to a press release, the senator from Manhattan filed with the Kansas Secretary of State’s Office for re-election to the 22nd District of the Senate, on Thursday.
In the release, Hawk says, “It is a privilege to serve the people of the 22nd district in the Kansas Senate.”
Prior to becoming a senator, Hawk spent 33 years working in the Manhattan-Ogden school district, working his way up from a junior high math teacher to superintendent.
In seeking re-election, Hawk notes that education is one of his main priorities, saying, “Unfortunately, the mismanagement of the state budget has resulted in massive cuts to our schools. We have seen them at all levels — from K-12 to early childhood and higher education – for the sake of irresponsible economic policies.”
