A 27-year-old Manhattan man has entered a plea of no contest to two counts of rape. Gregory E. Hoyt entered the plea before Riley County District Court Chief Judge Meryl Wilson Monday afternoon. Sentencing is set for March 21st. Riley County Attorney Barry Wilkerson indicates both crimes carry a potential life sentence.
As previously announced by KMAN, the Riley County Police Department took the 27-year-old Hoyt into custody last August after receiving reports of inappropriate behavior between Hoyt and a child he knew. He was arrested in the northwestern portion of Manhattan.
