A woman sought by Geary County law enforcement authorities since last week has been located in Alabama.

Last Wednesday the Geary County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from the public in locating Kayla Simpson, 21, who was wanted on several charges including two felony violations of the Offender Registration Act, Felony Violation of a No Contact Order, and Contributing to a Child’s Misconduct.

Geary County Sheriff  Tony Wolf announced Tuesday night that following a multitude of Crime Stoppers tips, Simpson was located and apprehended Monday in Fort Payne, Alabama by Investigators from the Dekalb County Sheriff’s Office. The Geary County Sheriff’s Office is currently working with the Geary County Attorney’s Office to secure extradition for Simpson so she may be returned to the State of Kansas. Simpson is also being held without bond pending first appearance and charged in Dekalb County, Alabama for violation of the Alabama Sex Offender Registration and Community Notification Act.

Last week the Geary County Sheriff’s Office announced it was investigating allegations that a Registered Sex Offender in Junction City was having unlawful contact with a minor child contrary to a No Contact Order issued by Geary County District Court. On September 20, 2016 the Geary County Sheriff’s Office conducted a search warrant in the 700 block of West 7th Street in Junction City and seized evidence that supported the allegations. The suspect, identified as Simpson was not present during the execution of the search warrant.
