A single vehicle injury accident occurred Friday morning.  In an area near Avery Avenue, and Kimball Avenue, police found that a truck driven by Brandon Kerwin, 22, of Manhattan left the roadway and struck a “Riley County Fair” permanent sign, a power pole, and a residential fence.  Kerwin was transported to Via Christi Hospital by Riley County EMS following this accident that is believed to be a result of a medical issue while driving.
A vehicle collision occurred Sunday morning.  Near Tuttle Creek Blvd. and Seth Child Road, the collision was between Catherine Merz, 19, of St. Mary’s, and Kenneth Coyle, 34, of Clay Center. Police found that prior to the collision, Merz attempted to complete a u-turn and was struck by Coyle. Merz was issued a citation for failure to yield the right of way and was also transported to Via Christi Hospital for complaint of pain.
A Fort Riley man was arrested late Saturday night for aggravated battery and reckless use of a deadly weapon.  28-year-old Shaun Bell was arrested in Manhattan in the 2200 block of Westchester Drive.  The arrest followed a physical altercation involving a glass cup.  The victim, Derek Williams, 38, of Fort Riley, suffered severe lacerations to the face and was transported to Via Christi Hospital for treatment.   Bell’s bond was set at $10,000.
