Javaris Brooks, 24, of Tampa, Florida was arrested yesterday, at approximately 5:40 PM while in the 2400 block of Greenbriar Drive. Brooks was arrested for the offenses of theft by deception and computer unlawful acts. He was given a bond of $6,000.00 and at the time of this report was not confined at the Riley County Jail. This arrest stemmed from an investigation into these crimes located in the 2300 block of Tuttle Creek Blvd.

The Riley County Police Department is investigating a rape that was reported to have happened in the city limits of Manhattan earlier this month. This investigation involves a 19-year-old female victim and a 21-year-old male suspect who is known to her. Officers continue to investigate and due to the nature of this crime, no further information has been released.
