Officers filed a report for theft by deception in the 100 block of E. Bluemont Ave. on May 15th at approximately 9:35 PM. Officers listed Paul Woellhof, 89, of Miltonvale, Kansas, as the victim when he reported that an unknown suspect scammed him into purchasing $3,000 worth of gift cards. Woellhof was able to cancel the cards after learning it was a scam and was able to recover $2,300. Police ask that anyone with information contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers.
