Pottawatomie County Justice Center
It was a busy day in Pottawatomie County District Tuesday, with scheduling in several prominent cases. Devon Davis, 28, of Manhattan, who faces an attempted second degree murder charge from an incident earlier this month was set for an August 18th preliminary hearing. Attorney Brenda Jordan is representing Davis.
Also Tuesday, two men charged with aggravated battery after a victim was life-flighted to a Topeka hospital from Country Stampede this year, were in court for arraignment and indicated to the court they needed attorneys.  Benjamin Rowe, 22, of Mound City indicated he would get his own counsel, with his next court appearance set for August 15th. And Chance Stevenson, 21, of Roeland Park was appointed Jack Turner to represent him, with an August 29th court date set.
Also facing arraignment was Jace Ward of Wamego, 18, who has been charged with aggravated child endangerment, furnishing alcohol to a minor, and lewd and lascivious behavior counts. As KMAN announced earlier this month Ward was arrested after a more than month long investigation into a June sixth incident outside Wamego that reportedly involved a juvenile over the age of 14. Wade’s status hearing is set for August 22nd.
And Robert Snyder was represented by Defense Attorney Barry Clark, and was set for a September 28th preliminary hearing on a variety of charges including possession of marijuana with intent to sell. Clark explained to the court that discovery in the case is complete but Snyder was in physical therapy and recovering from recent surgery. Snyder was arrested in April following search warrants in the area of Canary and Sparrow Lanes and Elbo View Drive northeast of Manhattan following an investigation into illegal drug use and sales in Pottawatomie County.
