    Thursday accident at McCall and 24 ends in fatality

    A 78-year-old Wamego man died in a two vehicle accident on Highway 24 at Levee Drive at 1:14 p.m. Thursday. Francis Whitney died in the collision KMAN first told you about Thursday afternoon,  with traffic blocked in eastbound lanes for a couple of hours.

     According to the Kansas Highway Patrol , Whitney was driving a Chevrolet Lumina southbound on Levee Drive, with a second vehicle, a Toyota Tundra, westbound on Highway 24. Whitney failed to stop at the stop sign on Levee Drive and his vehicle was struck by the other vehicle, driven by 18 year old Ethan Engelhorn of Manhattan. Engelhorn had a possible injury.
     Both Whitney and Engelhorn were wearing seatbelts.
